About

I’m Dave Hayes and have been marketing online since June 2000

As you might imagine in that time, I have experienced and seen a lot online

I started off by promoting opportunities by the bundle

Now that worked and earned me some money, but not life changing income

At the time I was still working a Job, but didn’t like it

My desire was to work online as even back then, I thought it was the smart way

2008

Frustrated by my efforts I brought a book

That book explained exactly how to market online and do it the smart way

Literally overnight I stopped the way I was doing things

I started doing things as the book explained

It explained I had to build a list of subscribers

The very first thing I did was choose software on which to build my list

At that time I chose the best known autoresponder for the online world

The results were, unbelievable, I was getting subscribers on a daily basis.

The results were so good in fact that in the space of just a few months

I was actually earning more money per month, than I was with my job.

Result!

Now that was good, because thats what the book said would happen.

The downside to that was this…

I was using GoogleAdwords and using it blind.

By that I mean I set up a campaign and let it run

Very soon my bank account for advertising had run dry….

Lesson Learned, always put a limit on your Google Ads campaign

My subscribers, werent buying a lot of my offer,so Adwords was costing me

Time for a Rethink

So, adwords was costing me me money, but the subscribers were coming in

Time for a rethink!!

The book I had brought, explained that as well as having a list

I also needed a blog… But where to get one from!

My first recommendation was WordPress… But sadly for me as I was to find out

The wrong side of WordPress

You see there are two sides to WordPress. the Dot com version and the Dot org version

I was recommended to get the dot com version, which I did because it is or was free!

However, what I didn’t realise is that using the dot com version means that you can’t use affiliate links

So I happily wrote away, including affiliate links until one day, I discovered my blog was…Missing!

Yep, totally gone

It turned out that because I was using affiliate links in my content

WordPress dot com didn’t allow it and so it just removed the blog, with zero explanation

Back To The Drawing Board

So another rethink needed, but this time on the dot org side of WordPress

And that is where the minefield that is self hosted Websites begins!!!

Elsewhere on this blog you will find reviews on the Blog hosts I have tried previously

My reasons for leaving them and some of your questions may well get answered

As you will see from the banner above, there are so many benefits and it is …

An Affiliate Marketers Dream

On other posts I’ll explain more in depth about why I chose them
